Energy Sources/ House 4-19

I chose hydropower. I chose this not only because it is a renewable energy source it is the cleanest. In the past thousands of years, the water level in the ocean has raised and more water is flowing around due to the melting of glaciers due to global warming. There will always be glaciers melting which means there will always be water. In that matter there will always be hydropower. You don't have to live near a river to get electricity from hydropower plants. In fact people cannot live near one because the plants can cause damage to the habitat. There is not much anyone can do about that situation. Unfortunately a gas called methane is sometimes created when a dam is used and again there is almost nothing we can do about that. The disadvantages are minor in comparison to the amount of rainfall, snow, hail and other water contributed precipitation we get to fill the dams that have hydropower plants resting on top of them. Hydropower is not the most popular way to power a home but I believe its the most efficient.

Energy Sources

I do think cars should be required to get better gasoline mileage. My mom and I barely travel anywhere because the price of gas is so high. When we take a three hour drive it costs us a full tank of gas and around $100. I think that is way too much to be paying for gasoline. Newer models have better mileage than one from 2002 but it is hard to afford a new car. Even if you have a newer car the price of gasoline is a problem. The economy is going down while prices are going up. Traveling is important to many people now these days. The only big problem is who can afford it? It used to be easy to take a drive anywhere, and now its a pain. If cars had better gasoline mileage then we could have more family reunions and picnics and such.

Genetics/ Heredity Blog

Mom: Free ear lobes, hair on fingers, no widows peak, straight hair, cleft chin, smile dimples

Dad:Free ear lobes, hair on fingers, no widows peak, straight hair, smooth chin, smile dimples

My mom has alot of traights I don't such as straight hair, smile dimples, and cleft chin. My dad's differences from me are straight hair and smile dimples. I inherited traigts from mostly my dad but also from my mom and from neither. I have free ear lobes, hair on fingers, and no widows peak from both, smooth chin from my dad, but I don't have smile dimples. I don't have smile dimples which is a dominant trait so I have more recessive alleles than dominant.

My First Blog

I really enjoyed learning about Newton's Laws of Motion. I enjoyed learning them because it taught me why things move. I liked making the balloon-mobiles. Now every time I ride in a car or buss and it turns a corner and I see everyone sliding to one side I think of the laws of motion. When I do simple every-day tasks I think about them too. Although when I put something on top of a pile and then it falls even when nothing is touching it I know science involved because it falls because of gravity.
